Barns, LEANING BARN, BERKSHIRE MOUNTAINS, MASSACHUSETTS
I discovered this delightful old barn with its ornate cupola while driving through the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. It was listing badly, and now, several years later, has probably succumbed to the ravages of gravity and time. I recall the words of veteran traveler and journalist Charles Kuralt, “Barns back east have weather vanes on them to show which way the wind is blowing, but out here there’s no need…farmers just look out the window to see which way the barn is leaning.”
