Barns, KENTUCKY CLUB BARN, OH
If you look closely at this photograph, you can see that this mural advertising Kentucky Club Pipe Tobacco has been painted over an earlier advertisement for rival Mail Pouch Chewing Tobacco. The Mail Pouch sign may have been painted by legendary Ohio Mail Pouch barn painter Harley Warrick, who painted or repainted more than 20,000 Mail Pouch barn murals from 1946 until his retirement in 1993. Harley once remarked, in an interview in 1997, “the first 1000 were a little rough, after that you got the hang of it.”
