Architecture, UNION TERMINAL (CINCINNATI MUSEUM CENTER), CINCINNATI, OHIO This magnificent example of Art Deco architecture is west of downtown Cincinnati. Built in 1933 at a cost of $41 million to serve as a terminus for seven railroad lines, the building saw its finest hour during World War II, when up to 200 trains a day, carrying up to 200,000 passengers, many of them troops, arrived and departed. In 1986 Cincinnati voters passed a bond issue that saved the building and converted it into a museum center. Inside, painted rings of gold and orange soar above Winold Reiss’ glass mosaic murals.
